Norton Sports 2 Erith Town 2
Norton Sports left Winch’s Field disappointed on Saturday, having led Erith Town 2-0 only to be pegged back with six minutes remaining.
The hosts had started the game the brighter of the two sides with Ryan Rook causing problems on the right and Harry Goodger proving a handful up front.
Despite their early dominance, though, few clear-cut opportunities were created with Norton’s best opportunities coming from set-pieces while Erith looked to catch Norton out on the counter-attack.
The closest either side went to scoring came on the stroke of half-time when Tony Clark’s floated effort clipped the top of the bar with the Erith goalkeeper stranded.
The second-half started in a similar fashion but on 51 minutes, a free-kick was flicked on by Norton player-manager Ben Taylor for Lewis Rivett to tap home from six-yards.
The advantage was doubled six minutes later when another Rook set-piece found its way through the pack to substitute Ian Fullagher who headed home at the far post.
With a third of the match still to play, Norton needed to keep things tight but within five minutes Erith were back in the game when a cross from the left was partially cleared and Tom Bradshaw hit a controlled volley into the unguarded net.
Rook and Harry Goodger both went close to a third Norton goal as the home side looked to secure their first league win at home since September.
However, they were stung in the 84th minute when James Taylor ran through to slip the ball beyond Smith and snatch a point for Erith.
Norton are back at Winch’s Field for their third successive home fixture tonight (Tuesday) as they host Deal Town.
